The Tennessee-based alternative-rock band, The Band Camino, has been around for nine years and they're still going strong. 'The Taking Shape' tour celebrates their newest EP released on May 17th, Bruises, and they're bringing Knox with them as support. With the first stop being sold out, they started the party in Seattle at the Showbox SODO theater. Without a doubt, their first performance of tour was the most energetic SODO has seen. Opening for the party was Knox. This had been the second time I got to see him live, but a first for many. The pumping energy that flew throughout the venue gave a good indicator that Knox had gained a handful of new fans. Since there was no other opener this time, concert goers got to hear an extended set list and got to thoroughly enjoy the opener. Fans got to hear a fairly new release, "Treadmill," which came out June 28th. For an opening song, a fresh release brought the hype. Audience members also got to hear the popular piece "Love Letter," along with the likes of "Man Down," "Nevermind," "Me, Myself, And Your Eyes," and "Change Your Mind." That is just a few to put into perspective of how well put together the setlist was. Of course, Knox ended with "You Are The 1975," which was a fan favorite. The venue erupted with show goers singing along. Then came on a band loved by many, The Band Camino; consisting of guitarist Spencer Stewart, drummer Garrison Burgess, vocalist and guitarist Jeffery Jordan, and touring bassist Reagan Renfrow. The last time they were there was back in the fall, so fans were ecstatic and ready for a fun night of live music. Opening with one of their newer songs from the EP, fans got to hear "Nostalgia" in addition to "One Last Cigarette," which is one of their more popular songs. The setlist consisted of a handful of songs from various albums such as "Hush Hush," "Save My Life," "Farsighted," "Damage," and newly released "Bruises." Hearing a new release definitely brings more hype for what's to come in future albums. The stage cleared off for a little acoustic moment with Stewart on the guitar and Jordan on the piano. Audience members got to hear the likes of "Song About You," "Fool of Myself" (which was a combination of verse 1 and the chorus), "Berenstein," "Less Than I Do" (which was fan picked with a choice between that song and "Crying Over You"), and "The Black and White." The rest of the band members came back with columns of smoke giving them a dramatic entrance back on stage. The show "ended" with "See Through," but of course fans got an encore. There was a fan participation moment where someone was lucky enough to be on stage with the band playing a cowbell to the song "I Think I Like You," which had an easy beat to follow. It wouldn't be a The Band Camino concert without a perfect ending with "Daphne Blue." Overall, the energy was electrifying for a first night on tour – it definitely kicked things off right. If you're a TBC enjoyer, The Taking Shape tour is one you do not want to miss.Keep up with The Band Camino here, and Knox here.
