New York City’s Bowery Electric welcomed India Lake, Wet Chris, Such A Pretty Face, and Scarlett Taylor last Wednesday for an exciting night.India Lake set the mood as the night’s first performer with her smooth vocals. The crowd was filled with her family, friends, and fans that airily sang along to her songs. Her gentle, but funky melodies had me in awe, with “Devil’s Son” being my favorite track of the night.Despite facing technical difficulties at the beginning of his set, Wet Chris launched into a very powerful performance that was definitely worth the wait. He put on quite the show, effortlessly displaying his vocal range, and even inviting special guests Amaqui Zori and Océane on stage. They complemented each other’s voices beautifully for their respective songs.Such a Pretty Face’s eclectic sound and constant movement captivated the crowd from start to finish. Jarhead, the band’s front man, began singing an acoustic number from the stage’s rose petal-covered steps, eliciting shushing from members of the audience until the room was silent. His passionate and gritty solo was backed up by his bandmates scattered throughout the crowd playing harmonicas. Overall, the ensemble’s transcendent sound created an extremely mystifying and fun atmosphere.Scarlett Taylor’s immediately magnetic stage presence drew the crowd in closer for a more intimate experience of the last set of the night. She started off performing her song “internet (Machine)” and sharing an anecdote about how losing her phone allowed her to disconnect from the virtual world for a while. She then encouraged the audience to howl with her for her next song, which seemed silly at first, but by the end of the song the entire room had let loose and unleashed their inner wolves. Scarlett had an ethereal-like aura that the crowd couldn’t get enough of.Keep up with India Lake at https://www.indialake.comWet Chris at https://soundcloud.com/wet-chrisSuch A Pretty Face at https://suchaprettyface.band/shows/Scarlett Taylor at https://www.scarletttaylormusic.com
